Give Peace a Chance: John & Yoko's Bed-In for Peace e-Blad

The ‘bed-in’ was an iconic event in rock history - a call for world peace that took place in Montreal in May of 1969 and gave rise to the famous anthem. Give Peace a Chance publishes to mark the 40th anniversary of ‘Give Peace a Chance’ and the 30th anniversary of Lennon’s untimely death.

The book re-creates the event through the lens of a professional photographer, Gerry Dieter, who was present for all eight days at the John Lennon and Yoko Ono bed-in, and includes many images never seen before. It also features the words of others who were there, including stories from celebrities and unique essays. The war dragged on for another six years, but for eight days John and Yoko held centre stage in a hotel room in Montreal, asking that we all just give peace a chance, a message that continues, tragically so, to resonate to this day.

A Thousand Hills by Stephen Kinzer

1_0470120150 Published by Wiley, June 2008

In 1994, the world stood idly by as Rwanda was devastated by the most horrifying genocide since the Holocaust. Now this tiny, land-locked nation stands poised to stun the world again—but in a very different way. Killers and survivors have embarked on a breathtaking path toward reconciliation, and Rwanda has become one of the most promising countries in the developing world. How did this happen?

In A Thousand Hills, bestselling author Stephen Kinzer tells the dramatic story of Paul Kagame, whose rebel army stopped the genocide and whose government has turned Rwanda into a new star of Africa. Kagame grew up as a wretched refugee, shaped one of the most audacious covert operations in the history of clandestine warfare, and then emerged as a visionary leader with radical ideas about how poor countries can climb out of their misery. Whether his experiment can succeed is a question that has begun to fascinate people across Africa and beyond.

Germanicus Julius Caesar was all of the above...

The national bestseller about America and Iran - now with new material on the coming showdown...

This new edition of All The Shah's Men - the bestseller chosen as one of the best books of the year by the Washington Post and the Economist - begins with a powerful new essay that warns against an American attack on Iran. As the drumbeat of threats against Iran intensifies in Washington, Kinzer argues that they are based on fantasies that are as dangerous as they are delusional. Any attack, he warns, would usher in another era of upheaval in Iran and the surrounding region, this time with the overlay of nuclear-tinged terror...
